Area Food Pantries


  • The Viola Community Food Pantry, which serves the Matherville, New Windsor, Preemption, and Viola area at 1407 18th Ave., Viola (Viola United Methodist Church), is open the first Tuesday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. and the third Thursday of the month from 1 to 6 p.m.

    The Sherrard Food Pantry provides food to struggling families in 10 communities around their area. Service Area: Boden, Cable, Fyre Lake, Gilchrist, Matherville, New Windsor, Preemption, Sherrard, Swedona, and Viola. Food Distribution Hours: Tuesday 1:00pm - 3:00pm,  Thursday 5:30pm - 7:00pm. The pantry is closed the 5th week of the month.
     
    The New Windsor Food Pantry serves New Windsor residents at New Windsor Presbyterian Church, 414 Walnut Street, on the first Thursday of each month from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.  Enter on the west side of the church.
     
    The Mercer County Food Pantry provides emergency food for those residing in Mercer County. The Pantry is open: Tuesdays 5:30pm-7:00pm, Fridays 8:00am-12:00pm and is located at 1200 S. College Ave, Aledo. 

    The Tiger Closet offers services to families in the Sherrard School District. Shopping hours are on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 2:30-6:00PM. Families should sign up for a time to shop, or we also offer deliveries for our families who may have schedule conflicts. Questions, please contact Vanessa Schulenberg or Amanda Fritch.
