“I've had many family members attend Sherrard and have only heard great things about the school district,” said Nikki Fishman, 4th grade teacher at Winola Elementary.

She’s in her 2nd year with the district. Fishman has a Bachelors in Elementary Education, Masters in Elementary Education with a Reading Certificate.

She lives with her husband, Steve, and their two cats, Leia and Billy in Reynolds. Her hometown is Galebsurg.

Fishman’s favorites include:
Animal: Cats
Color:  Purple
Food: Chicken strips
Book: Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
Movie: Grease
Vacation place: Okoboji, IA

When she’s not teaching she’s relaxing, watching Netflix, working out, reading, or crafting. For fun, she likes to shop.

“My favorite part of teaching is introducing students to new books and genres and seeing their love of reading grow,” said Fishman.

Something unique about her - “I love to craft and sew and won a consumer science student of the year award in high school. I made a quilt out of all my old swim team t-shirts, shorts made from a towel to wear at swim meets, a stuffed bear, and other various things,” she said.

Her advice for life is, “When you can't find the sunshine, be the sunshine.”
