'Whale of a Good Time' with Art Teacher Tony Vermeer

Art teacher Tony Vermeer brought the vibrant world of creativity to Kindergartners at Sherrard and Winola Elementary schools by reading 'I'm the Best Artist in the Ocean!' written by Kevin Sherry.

He then guided the young artists in a directed drawing activity featuring a charming squid.

After completing their squid masterpieces, the students delved into the world of larger marine creatures.

Vermeer selected a group of older students to undertake the challenge of drawing a colossal whale, reminiscent of the majestic creature portrayed in the tri-fold section of the book. They meticulously painted, cut, and glued the various parts of the squid.

Older students who took on the special project:
SG: Kyla, Natalia, Norah
WG: Tinleigh, Charlotte, Alivia

Kindergartners then decorated the large whale with various sea life, drawing inspiration from the squid in the story.

The art session encouraged artistic expression and animated the narrative, leaving the young artists inspired by the ocean's wonders and their creative abilities.
