District 200 offers free and reduced-price school meals to those students who qualify under the National School Lunch Programs. The household eligibility guidelines, as well as the policies governing this program, are determined annually by the State of Illinois and the federal government.

Children from households that meet federal income guidelines are eligible for the program.  Meals meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture requirements. Reduced price lunches cost 40¢ for the regular meal (which is $2.60 for PreK-6th grade and $2.75 for 7-12th grade). The meal includes milk. The price for a reduced breakfast is 30¢ (paid breakfast price is $1.25 for all grade levels).

Application forms are available at each District 200 school office. Qualifying households should answer all applicable questions on the form.  It is the parent/guardian responsibility to complete and submit the application to the building secretary or the district office. Only one form per family should be submitted.  Families must re-apply for meal benefits every year. The application will be processed within 10 business days of submission and families will be notified of the determination in writing.

Families who are currently eligible for "Temporary Assistance for Needy Families" (TANF) or "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive a direct certification letter from the school district. If any member of the household is eligible for TANF/SNAP benefits, all students in that household are eligible for free meal benefits. Families receiving TANF/SNAP do not need to complete the household application unless they are new to the district.

Households may apply for benefits any time during the school year that they become eligible. Questions may be addressed to Marla Miller.
